1st place winner in the 2010 NACUSA Texas Composition Competition, Jazz performing artist and National Endowment for the Arts fellow Hank Hehmsoth teaches Jazz Piano/Improvisation, Composition/Arranging, Film Scoring, and Music Technology.

ARTISTIC ACHIEVEMENTS

1. Hank Hehmsoth, a faculty member in the School of Music at Texas State University-San Marcos, placed first in the 2010 National Association of Composers, USA (NACUSA), Texas Composition Competition. Hehmsoth, a jazz artist/composer, won top honors in the professional category with a string quartet, “X-trusions- a déjà vu in 4D.” The piece was performed during the International Joint Conference on Latin-American and Modern Music, held Feb. 26-27.

2. Hank Hehmsoth, jazz artist/composer received an Honorable Mention award by the 2010 Jazz Composers Orchestra Institute, Center for Jazz Studies, Columbia University. Hehmsoth, faculty member in the School of Music at Texas State University-San Marcos, won honors for his large ensemble piece "Theme from Carlos & Charlie's", written for steel drum orchestra.

3. Composer and professor Hank Hehmsoth presented an Interactive Workshop, Seminar, and Master Class "Computers & Music (MIDI)" sponsored by the NARAS Foundation, Inc. (2005) Hank is a lifetime Voting Member for the "GRAMMY© Awards".

4. Hank Hehmsoth was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship Grant, under Category one: Non-matching fellowship grants to established professional jazz artist of exceptional talent, to advance their career through composition, arrangement, and performance. (1985)

5. Hank Hehmsoth, as member of the Christopher Cross pop-rock group, won 5 Grammies©, and an Academy Award© for Best Song ("Arthur"), with national and international tours with Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, and Bonnie Raitt.
